About

CSWLogo175x150The Carnegie Screenwriters (CSW) is a diverse group of creative individuals of various backgrounds and ages. The group includes writers, filmmakers, film artists, actors, teachers and students. The original group met at Pittsburgh Filmmakers in 1998. Over the years since many other writers and filmmakers have joined the group. While the core group is based in Pittsburgh with members from the tri-state area of Western Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia, we also have participants in California and as far away as Australia. Our Facebook group has over 1,600 members from around the world.

CSW writers have won writing fellowships, won or made the semifinals in screenplay contests, have produced documentaries, acted and directed in film and the theater, made short films and worked on feature films. Some also actively pursue other writing disciplines including playwriting, children’s literature, poetry, fiction, nonfiction and freelance journalism.

Some of the group have collaborated on projects in television broadcasting and film.

The group is always open to scriptwriters and filmmakers with a passion for storytelling and making quality films.

Mission Statement

The Carnegie Screenwriters provides an active, supportive community for scriptwriters of all ages, backgrounds and levels of experience. We work together in an environment of mutual respect and fellowship to share resources, provide encouragement, motivation and constructive feedback on scripts, concepts and works-in-progress. We will network and partner with filmmakers and film organizations to produce quality scripts, films, videos and television.
