Meetings
Our next in-person meeting will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 10am at the Mt. Lebanon Library. Bring a few pages to read – with enough copies to have all parts read – or just stop by for the conversation. Hope to see you there!

New CSW Site
The Carnegie Screenwriters are pleased to reveal our new website. At the moment, the site looks rather sparse, which will change as we add content and images. This new design enables us to support the full range of computing devices, with a clean, responsive layout. Test it on your phone, tablet, and computer.
Some features not yet active include a “slide show” banner at the top of the front page and a nice “featured story” option with images. Before we activate these new features, we’ll need images and content. Banner images need to be large (1400 pixels wide by 500 pixels tall, so we can scale them to all devices). Story and promotional images can be any size. Remember, for any images we need to have the legal rights to include those on our site.
The “Events” feature is new. If you have a CSW-related event, other than our regular meetings, be sure to let us know at the regular meetings.
We intend to integrate this website with Facebook (our most active online presence), Twitter, Google, YouTube, Vimeo, and any other media feeds that might reach our audiences.
In the past, people posted content for a few weeks or months, and then our website and social media posting stopped. For an online media campaign to be successful, we must update this site, the events, and our social media feeds. In coming months, we’ll be electing a Board of Directors and establishing some responsibilities for our online presences.
About
The Carnegie Screenwriters (CSW) is a diverse group of creative individuals of various backgrounds and ages. The group includes writers, filmmakers, film artists, actors, teachers and students. The original group met at Pittsburgh Filmmakers in 1998. Over the years since many other writers and filmmakers have joined the group. While the core group is based in Pittsburgh with members from the tri-state area of Western Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia, we also have participants in California and as far away as Australia. Our Facebook group has over 1,600 members from around the world.
CSW writers have won writing fellowships, won or made the semifinals in screenplay contests, have produced documentaries, acted and directed in film and the theater, made short films and worked on feature films. Some also actively pursue other writing disciplines including playwriting, children’s literature, poetry, fiction, nonfiction and freelance journalism.
Some of the group have collaborated on projects in television broadcasting and film.
The group is always open to scriptwriters and filmmakers with a passion for storytelling and making quality films.
Mission Statement
The Carnegie Screenwriters provides an active, supportive community for scriptwriters of all ages, backgrounds and levels of experience. We work together in an environment of mutual respect and fellowship to share resources, provide encouragement, motivation and constructive feedback on scripts, concepts and works-in-progress. We will network and partner with filmmakers and film organizations to produce quality scripts, films, videos and television.
